This is a sample 50-80 lb Calstar Grafighter tuna rod Most of the rods we build are customized using our sample rods as a guide. The Sample rods will allow you to get a good idea or the cost of a specific style rod. We can of course build you the exact rod we have listed or change it as much as you like. This rod may be built in several line poundage ratings for the same or very close to the same price. And may also be built with any number of different blanks .. and you may wish to go with the bigger 80-130 roller guides .. again .. this is only a slight increase in price. The Alutecnos butts are a great match for the Winthrop pale gold guides and Shimano and Alutecnos reels .. however if you have a Penn or dark gold reel ..we can use the Aftco aluminum butt and the Winthrop black roller guides for the same price as this rod. Most rods we show will need to be built. The majority of rods can be built and shipped in about 10 days .. Occasionally we will be out of a particular component and it will need to be ordered from the manufacture. When this happens we can still get most rods build and shipped with in two weeks.. The rod in this ad starts with and Alutecnos black and pale gold removable aluminum butt .. I chose this butt because it is a great match to the Pale gold Winthrop 50-80 lb pale gold guides. The rod blank is the Calstar Grafighter 755 H 40-80 lb tuna blank .. this is a great light weight, fast taper, multi species, durable blank. It is one of my favorites. I built this rod 5 foot 6 inches in length with the butt attached. This is a great length for a stand up rod I used our exclusive 13 inch long, tapered, triangular, finger slotted fore grip. Our customers have loved our triangular fore grip .. the finger slotted grip is just and addition to our line up of grips Alutecnos has a great line up of removable aluminum butts. This 50 lb short straight butt is 17.91 inches long .. the Aftco is 17.76 ... Alutecnos also offers an ultra short straight butt that is 16.85 inches long, or a short curved that is 18.89 inches long .. they have all the bases covered with there line up of butts. This butt is black and pale gold, it is manufactured from marine grade aluminum. I find this butt to be a little nicer then the equivalent Aftco short 50lb stand up butt. It seems to be just a little more refined. The 5 Winthrop Express roller guides and tip are the 50-80 lb class, perfect for this size and style of rod. The Winthrop guides are manufactured right here in the US .. in Connecticut. In my personal opinion they are the finest roller guide manufactured anywhere on the planet. The guides are a pale gold in color, a great match to the gold Alutecnos or Shimano reels, and the gold nuts and hoods of the Alutecnos removable butt. On this rod we put a blue and black and just a touch of gold marbling under each guide. We can marble rods in about any color or color combination you'd like. WE marbled the guide wraps after each guide was under wrapped in black thread to insure no blank to roller guide contact, then the guides were attached with 4 layers of C size black thread, for maximum strength and minimum balk.
