 A tip from JD he said the plastic snaps work great but that  a few of the snaps on the top were worn and he found that if he drilled the center of the plastic snaps with a 1/8 “ drill that he could screw in s.s. metal snap studs he uses the 3/8 “ studs and then grinds down the back, he said he also found that  modifying  the snap this way gives much more holding power after all the hard part is finding the something that will snap to the windshield  and this way he has the best of both worlds.

 

 

These snaps the top to the windshield

They were used on bayliner boats around 1980 to 1990 I think, I know they will work 1986 and 1987 bayliner Capri’s they fit over the fast back windshield used in the 80s. They are made out of black plastic,with a plastic snap they are very hard to find!!

 

They are made to replace the white plastic windshield snaps used by bayliner in the 80’s. You are bidding on  one clip

They are made to fit the small windshield frame molding used by bayliner and others .

 

The molding is appx   one 1/2  inch to -5/8 wide measuring down the side of the frame and appx  3/8 thick measuring across the top, it a U shape molding at the top of the glass.

 

Everyone sells the 7/8 and the ¾   stainless windshield snaps but they will not work on a bayliner!

 

They are too big and will not clip on and if they did  the snap ends up being too high they put the snap on the frame not below where it belongs.

 

 Some people try gluing there ss snaps on the frame but they still end up being too high to work. the snap needs to below the frame!

 

 Others try to drill the windshield frame to add the ss screw in snaps this is a no no the glass will break!

 

You need to count the snaps on the top and side curtains this will till you the number you need.

 

Only the plastic snaps that snap over the windshield will work!
