Sceptre Standup Picked up my 4 standups on Friday fished them in bimini over the weekend caught some nice mahis and a 34lb smoker king. These rods have a really nice action with lots of backbone. I have shimano tld 25s spooled with ande 25lb pink mono on each of these and they make for a light and very manageable rod and reel setup. The rod has a no frills simple wrap it looks very nice and matches my reels. I opted for the gold wrap on these particular reels. Rating - Reviewed on Apr 25, 2006 by Lou from Rosen
Sceptre Standup Rod Outstanding action and very well made. The aluminum reel seats are top notch and are tight when tightened down. I read the other reviews regarding the rod wrap I think it looks very nice with my accurate reel I got the rods with the silver option. Rating - Reviewed on Mar 02, 2007 by Junior from Beaufort, SC
Great rods for the money! I have 6 Sceptre rods with the silver wrap to match 6 silver Avet Pro 30 wides. The setup looks so pretty that I almost don't want to fish them...almost. Reels are spooled with 80# braid topshotted with 30# Diamond line. The rods are a medium action with enough backbone to halt the most stubborn of fish. My setup is used to target everything from Wahoo to YFT less than 75# though the rods would certainly handle larger fish. Great rods for when you want quality without breaking the bank. Sceptre Gladiator This new Sceptre standup rod with the calstar blank is incredible. This rod is surprisingly light even with the aftco big roller guides and the bent butt. I put a shimano tld 50 lrs on it. The light weight combo makes it very easy to handle and fight fish with. Very nice rod, Luis! Sceptre Gladiator 80 lb class This is by far the best 80 lb class outfit I have ever fished. Super light weight makes this the ideal standup rod. I purchased a single rod and fished it for 6 months for tuna and marlin here in the carolinas and on the polaris in california. I currently have a duel 9-0 2 speed on this rod and have 5 more rods on order. The components on this rod are top notch, however I opted for a winthrop roller tip instead of the aftco all the other guides are aftco. fantastic setup.
