Deep drop is the same as everyone elses, guides etc. the action is dull it does the job. Aftco wind on guides and bent butt very well made, it does not have a fancy wrap, the price was the best. The kingfish rods I use for sailfish very nice rod with fast tip and lots of backbone I plan to get 2 more of these. Some of the features I personally like is the ultra soft fast action tip. This is great for live baiting. You can feel the bait but you still have power in the rod if you need it. Also, the aluminum reel seats are a must. They are are stronger and more durable that composite seats. Try them, you will like them. They have a fast tip but with lots of backbone. The quality of the rods are top notch. I'm very happy with the selection I made. So far I've caught kingfish, cobia, and sails. I love the action of this rod it is perfect for stripers never caught a kingfish I gather they fight the same way. I am waiting on some spin rods with this same blank. I have owned and used every livebait rod on the market and these are far superior to those. The soft fast action tip is a must if you livebait for Kingfish but you also need the backbone to help raise that big fish. These rods have just that! I think the price, quality construction, and functionability of these rods make them a number ONE choice! Match these rods with some high speed Avet Reels and you will have the best Kingfish combo available. The fast taper tip is sensitive enough to feel the bait. I fish some local kingmac tournys here in SC I was looking for a good live bait rod. During my search I found this tackle review board. Based on the experiences posted I decided to buy the sceptre brand. Good information on this board Im glad I found it. I am fishing these rods with torium 30s and daiwa spins. I purchased 2 Sceptre spin sets with the spheros reels on Lou's website and 2 of his avet kingfish reels with the Sceptre kingfish rods. I got these last week and when I unpacked them I liked them from the get go. We ended up fishing them this weekend and they are fabulous. Lou put this new white braided line and a sufix top shot on each of the avets at no charge. The avet reel is smooth top notch well made. These rods have the perfect action for striped bass in addition to just kingfish. Whether you’re fishing bait out of the kites, flats, deeps, or downriggers this rod with its soft tip and great back bone will make a novice angler a pro. Oh!.and If your not fishing a 6:1 or higher reel you might as well be using a yoyo. I own 10 of the 7 Footers on 6 Cabos and 4 Avet MX 2-Speeds. The control and feel is MIND BLOWING - I BOAT 60% more Kingfish than before and have caught several other species in excess of 80lbs. I also have 6 other larger various sceptre rods which perform exponentially better. I'll NEVER by another rod.
