Save Gas – Fuel Mileage Saving Tips on How to Save Gas Consumption These helpful tips can be used to save money on gas and get better fuel economy out of your vehicle.  Whether you drive a gas guzzling truck V8 or have a small 4 cylinder car, you can benefit from these gas saving tips.   When buying fuel, you should try your best to buy in the morning hours.   Gas is considered to be denser with less heat in the air and you will get more bang for your buck.   Drive efficiently.  This means observe the speed limit.  The speed limit is not just there to save lives and prevent accidents, but can also help you reduce your monthly fuel bill.   Remove excess weight from your vehicle or boat.  If you have a lot of heavy objects that you aren’t using in your car such as big tool kits, coolers of water, etc. remove them.  This can account for nearly 2% reduction in Miles per gallon.   Try the hottest fuel additives available on the market.  We are not going to recommend fuel additives but do your research and you will find some additives to be better than others.    Don’t fall for cheap fuel stations.  Cheap fuel usually means watered down fuel and cannot only be more expensive in the long run, but can have damaging long term effects on your engine.   Avoid excess idling.  This mainly applies to cars with larger engines, but try at all cost to avoid a lot of idling.   When you are reaching the upper speeds, be sure to shift into overdrive or the highest gear available.  This will reduce your gas bill and keep your engine in good running condition.   Change or clean your air filter.  The air filter must be clean for good fuel economy.  You may opt to change it or you can usually clean it yourself.   Ease on the acceleration.  No need to start off very quickly or redline your vehicle on the road.  Take off at a normal pace and this will greatly reduce the gas you burn.   Moderate your air conditioning.  If you can get buy with windows down for 50% of your driving, you will see a great reduction is gas burned.
