Default Wahoo trolling

I have a trip coming up in a few weeks and am hoping to do some high speed trolling for some wahoo. I would love some help on what kind of line I should use to rig up my Avet 50 double wides. I know they're not 80's but hoping I can make 'em work.

Thanks for any advice!

Braided or mono line?

Right now I have 80# mono. I didn't think this setup would work because the line is so soft and it seems like the weight really cuts the line into the spool.

The 50's will be fine. When you start, just let out as much line as you can with a weight on and when you wind it in it will re-spool the mono tighter. 2X Avet wide is enough line. Mark off your lines with floss at intervals (ie 100, 150, 200 ft) so you dont have to guess when setting spreads out. put tape on the rod or reel to let you know which is which. make sure you have enough separation in the spread because crosses lines at 12-15 kts becomes ugly. tight lines!

Hey buddy. I have the same reels and the set up I use is 500yds of Dacron as backing and 300yds of 80lb mono on top. Never had a problem with mono digging into the spool... Just make sure who ever puts the line on the reel knows what they are doing...

Also spacing wise everyone has their preferences but I prefer spacing it out like this....

I run 4 lines so the wire is marked at 75, the next line is marked at 150, the next at 250 (with a mark also at 200) and after that at 350..

For some reason 50% of the time the strike is on the 150 bait... When they key in on that bait that's when we make adjustments...

We use 3lb weights on the wire and 2lb weights on the monos with wire shocks on everything

This whole wahoo thing is just like any fishery where time on the water will fine tune your approach... I'm not the best at it but that's just my approach.
