Just got back a day early - had to return early for the best of reasons - too many fish.
We arrived on Tuesday and after checking in went out and had a great bite getting 13 fish by 3 PM. Those fish were all given away to friends that we have on Bimini so we started fresh with no fish in the boat on Wednesday. Just after sunrise we were greeted with a triple and had steady fishing, except for a slack water lull, and caught our 18 fish limit by mid afternoon. We kept 10 fish on board giving another 8 away to the fuel dock boys in Bimini Sands and the dock crew at Bimini Bay. We also had the chef at Bimini Bay cook us fresh fish both nights. Excellent restaurant and except for the Big Game Club about the only place to eat. Today we had our additional 8 fish by 10 AM and rather than go in to give more away and fish in the afternoon and tomorrow we decided to just call it a great trip and head home a day early. The fish ate almost any lure we pulled and all were standard Bimini fish - 30's to our largest around 45. We had no small fish and no big fish but plenty of 40pounders. The fish bit better on the incoming tide but the bite on the outgoing tide was also pretty good. Our next scheduled trip is Feb 18 - 20 just before the tournament start on the 21st. We will probably catch a two day weather window somewhere before the 18-20 trip and take a fast boat over for a one night stay. The Hatteras is great to fish on but at 20 knots you don't make one night trips with it. All of our fish were caught to the South from the middle of Cat Cay and 6-8 miles to the south of that. There were no other boats fishing and we just made the same 6-8 mile run back and forth and never ran out of action. |

Do you ever deep drop off Issacs? I think I trolled by you one day about a month ago. Is that possible? Boat picture looks very similar to what I saw on the water.
