We just returned from 4 days in Bimini. After checking in on Tuesday we trolled south and had 5 nice fish for the 1/2 day - one about 65. Wednesday was a great day - again to the South with 12 fish but none over 50. On Thursday we had a steady 20 -25 knot wind out of the SSW with swells and a chop on top of the swells. It wasn't too tough trolling because we were in a 54 Hatteras but the fish had lockjaw. We managed just 2 fish for the day. On Friday we trolled to the North as we still had the remnants of the S wind and swell and decided to have it behind us as all we were doing was working our way north until the end of the outgoing tide and then heading back to LHP. We picked up 4 nice fish from 6:45 until 10 when we quit.
We left a bunch of fish at Bimini Bay as well as a couple at the fuel dock in Bimini Sands as we normally do. We brought back 12 big fish in two 320 qt SSI coolers and that's more than we needed for ourselves and friends. The trip was good, but a bit odd. The morning bite, which is usually excellent, was non existant thus we gained nothing by being out there at daylight. The tide was ebbing in the mornings and the bite was off with just a straggler here and there. We had most of our fish in the afternoons on the flood tide. There was a ton of weeds everywhere, both north and south, and it made for tough fishing with having to continually clear lines. It's going to blow for a few days now so the next trip will be at the end of the month. I sword fished on the night of the 12th - not a bite on 5 drifts. It seems that is turning into more of a daytime thing. |

Mainly R&S cone heads in sizes 21, 26, and 27 in Purple and Black and Blue and Black but ANY purple and black lure works well.
