Default Wahoo Challenge - Daily Report

I will do my best to update with photos and reports each day.

Nov 8, 2007
We crossed today in my 32' Sea Vee in rough conditions. Seas were 5-6 chop on top of 10-12 rollers (in the gulf stream). Dock to dock took us 2.5 hrs. Not bad at all considering the conditions.

The weather is already laying down (4:30p) and the rest of the weekend looks great. We'll post photos of the teams and catches.

Last night we had a great captain's party. 20 teams registered and got ready to fish. These guys are all serious. In total, there is ~ $70,000 in calcuttas.

The boats range from 36 Yellowfins, a 39 Sea Vee, a 63 Hatt, a 70 Svengali Custom plus a bunch of 50 and 60 Vikings, Spencers, etc. Plenty of "Big Boys" playing here.

The boats all left this morning in a beautiful sunrise and procession. Reports of weigh-ins will be posted later tonight.

The "Liborio" crew hijacked the mic last night.

Just plain pretty.

"Masada" (with PumpkinEater aboard)

"Top Vee" heading out of the cut.

I'm headed across tomorrow early afternoon from Lauderdale, and hoping the conditions improve ...I would think with the low pressure system yesterday and today, the 'hoo bite should have been pretty good. I'm anxious to hear a report

The second day of the Bahamas Wahoo Challenge was MUCH MORE impressive than the first day. The fish hitting the docks were plentiful and big.

The surprise of the day was team FULUNGA's 1st place daily finish with 177 pounds. This was good enough to give them 3rd place for the overall tournament.

Top team honors went to TOP VEE who edged out SVENGALI by 5 pounds! They were helped by the capture of a 69-pound wahoo that was also the largest wahoo of the tournament.

Sorry for the lack of photos, but the internet connection here is sloooow and uploading is a little difficult.

Here are all the results:

Great tournament, thank you Tony. Excellent organization and execution, no problems and lots of fun had by all.

Will post up some photos when I get them all together - see you in West End!
