Default Sept week 3 report

Another good week of fishing for the Paradise faithful..last Tuesday's overnight trip with the Marsh Rat himself was postponed for weather/crew loss but we picked up a two day trip from Dan Schmalzer and Bill Scott and Ilshat the Ruskie Wedn/Thursday..day 1 would be a quest for marlin while day two they were treated to an all you can catch tuna buffet compliments of Capt Bill Delabar the following day. -.we got 2 blind bites on naked ballyhoo day 1 missing both..day 2 would be the dedicated tuna day with Delabar and 12 yellowfins would make up for lack of action with billfish..Thursday we left out with Derreck Boring et al for an overnight combo trip..plan was to bottom fish, swordfish and spend the morning tuna fishing..plan worked well..bagged 20 grouper, 3 sow snapper, 3 pansized snapps and many throwback jacks on the first part o fthe trip..got set up about dark for the first of 5 drifts..had one short runoof and miss on the first drift and then a shark on each successive drift..suspect our only swordbite came while checking a bait.all actionon the live baits..nothingon the squids..for the first time ever; the conditions were great and remianed so all night..bite was off..there was one sword caught that night about a mile from us..the morning tuna bite was fair..4 yellowfins and one blackfin on a popper would round out the catch..Saturday we had 4 boats out each doing fairly well..totals included one blue marlin release, a dozen tuna and a mix of bottomfish..Scott L took Steve Hier out on Sunday with 6 tuna coming home to the cleaning table..Capt Hunter netted 5 yellowfins and 6 blackfins for Sean Rabeaux et al on the catboat.. We have 3 guys looking for another 3 guys for an overnight tuna trip next Wednesday and Thursday..call or email if interested..the target is tuna..Paradise Outfitters - 985-845-8006

Since it won't let me log in and post my photos here for some reason...

Here are a couple shots of the scamps we used to catch on our overnighters. We'd target scamps when we had the right baits. I'd get more amped up about a big scamp than a big gag most of the time. You can see a 50# gag on the docks at least once a week in Destin, but a 20# scamp? You don't see those too often at all!
