Headed out from St Lucie Inlet 3 am sat heading for the Canaveral Buoy. Got to my "spot" about 75 mi N and 15 mi east of the corner before dawn, and arrived to 1-2 foot mini swells. Hit birds soon as it was light and had a few skippies and a small Blackfin and Yellowfin but not much. Hit three other packs of birds and it was the same. Headed SE and ran for a bit and then we hit a huge edge with a moderate temp change at almost 2pm. We could see 80 and 100 lb yellowfin bustin and jumpin from a mile away. Not too many birds but a huge school of tuna...there were tuna jumpin 10 feet out of the water for almost mile in every direction. It was the biggest school of yellowfin any of us had ever seen. We were about 55 mi N and 20 mi E of the corner at this point. Didnt even know which way to go as they were all around. Trolled a zigzag pattern and got two in the 50-60 lb range then hit a quadruple header with all big fish. All 4 lines screamin. Boated a 55-60 pounder. Lost one on a jump. The other two lines were tangled and we had one of the fish to the boat and the line snapped. The last fish I fought for an hour or so and finally got the stubborn SOB on the boat. Came in at about 70 pounds. Three hundred pounds of YFT in an hour and a half...not bad. It went from a bad day to a great day in no time. By this time most of the fish sounded and the school was scattered so we decided to head back as it was a long ride and we were beat. We caught all but one of the tuna on Yozuri marauders; purple&black. Almost 325 mile round trip and 20 hours on the water but it was worth it. Pics to follow.

28.95 N 78.47 W (28°57'10" N 78°28'43" W), not that you want to go that far. Most of the time, we'll find them much closer in at the break. Of course, you can make the entire run and take pics of the buoy if you want. Some people say you can drag wahoo and dolphin off of it at times.

Awesom work. I think we were on the VHF with you for a bit on Sat. We were about 20 miles NE of the corner...sounds like were another 20 miles from the honey hole. We only nabbed a single 40# YFT and a bunch of skippies. The tuna fishing is getting tougher as the season dwindles away.
Time to focus on the Wahoo for the next 3 months. We did save the day by cristening Uncle Bucks new Diawa electric reel on a deep drop hole. First drop and he comes tight on a 60# Warsaw in 1300' of water. The gods were with him on this one...the grouper was banging the whole time on the elevator up....and he didn't get sharked...amazing. Buck should have some photos of that pig for a post.
