Opinions on Deep Jigging reel

I am looking into purchasing a high speed reel for deep jigging with braid. Considering the Avet Jx 2 speed. Ive also looked at the shimano torsa and the accurate boss but they seem a little expensive. All suggestions and opinions are appreciated

Everyone in Nassau is going nuts over the torsa, its expensive but they all say it was worth the coin. A friend of mine pulled up 2 AJ's at once from 800 ft with a torsa with no trouble at all.

I think your are on the right path with your preference for the Avet MXJ6/4. It is a mid-small reel with the high gear ratio that you need for bottom jigging. Retailing at $320, it is priced smartly. Plus you have that lower gear to make your job easier with fish on.

I have and use the Shimano Torsa 30. I really think that the Torsa is a very sharp reel as well, and I would only suggest the 30 model. But as Shimano's latest flagship reel, it is over-priced. I got mine used so I did not get raked over the barrel; but I rarely see them sold as-used.

I went with Torsa because I was Wooo-ed by Shimano's marketing for its castability. I think you may be buying a patented light-weight spool with lowest inertia in the conventional line-up. And with a 3 oz. sinker, I can cast it just about as far a my 7' spinner outfits. So it is very castable but only when you have enough weight on it. I also wanted the lever drag. With their oversized gear, they were able to keep it simple as a single high speed reel , with adequate torque. Torsa's big deal, I guess, is the interchangeable CAM. I have found that it is easy to lose the calibration of the drag though, so you need to remeasure with a spring scale to ensure you are at your target drag settings. So it is a very cool bottom fishing outfit if you use the Bottom fish 50 CAM, so you can put on some serious drag at your full setting. I think it is the most versatile reel that I have. But those features cost you an extra $300, if you purchase NIB, at retail. Their MSRP is $699 so I don't think it is worth the money at that price, but at $599 List things look a lot more appealling. BTW - Torsa 30 holds about 600 yds. of #60 JBHC braid with a wind-on leader.

But at least you know that you have perfectly capable reel at $320 too.

i have an accurate boss mag 865 it is very strong its on a 7 seas rod. i have 80 jb braid 100 floro wind on i have wipped 100 pound yelllow fin on this reel.
