Default Back To Back Tournament Wins, Both Oceans

Last November, I thought it was a once in a lifetime thing when my team was lucky enough to hook and land after 4 hours and 20 minutes a 318 lb Yellowfin in Cabo to win the Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot. I have asked Mike to post a photo in the Tuna Gallery. You can also check out the tournament website loscabostunajackpot.com

This past weekend my team landed a 106.5 Bigeye that put us over the top while fishing the Pirates Cove Tuna Roundup on the Outer Banks of NC. Just to emphasize how lucky we were in this tournament. The bigeye was landed a half hour before lines in and beat the second place fish by a half lb. 15 minutes earlier we landed a 60.5 lb yellowfin. Our largest yellowfin in the tournament before that was 48.5 lbs. Top Boat is awarded for the combined top 3 tuna over 2 days. We won that by 3 lbs and were also lucky enough to hold onto the Dolphin/ Wahoo division with a 29 lb Dolphin. No wahoo were weighed. Mike has posted the catch from day 2 of the Tournament in the Tuna Gallery. If you want to find out more about this tournament check out Pirate's Cove Marina For those who have not experienced it, the fishing is unbelievable off the Outer Banks. In 3 days, we caught 28 Yellowfin, 1 Bigeye, and 1 Dolphin for a total of over 1400 lbs of fish.

These are both great tournaments and I highly encourage all you tuna enthusiasts to participate. If a bunch of guys from Ohio can win, anybody can! Of course, all the credit to both these wins go to the captains and mates we hire for charter. The key to competition if hiring out is hiring the good crews early on while they are still available.

Tuna

Good work. Proves the point that good captains are worth the money.
