Default suggestions for fishing San Salvador/Rum Cay

Two weeks ago we trolled West End to Lucaya and caught a couple small 'hoos, blackfin and Mahi, but never made it to the YFT grounds b/c when they unexpectedly predicted the wind to blow 30-40 kts, the itinerary changed.

This week end (May 5th) we're headed to down to fish San Salvador and Rum Cay. Any recommended locations and suggestions for fishing down there ???

Sandy point until the sharks come in. It's like an Alfred Hitchcock movie ... a lot of birds and blood. You can run whatever you want there. There is a good anchorage near Sandy. I recommend you lay up there one night. If you get to Cat, Winding bay is sweet too. You'll wake up to freejumping YFTs. The north end of SanSal is famous for world record wahoo.

Thanks for the reply, Warrior. Does anyone live bait there or just drag lures around?

Lures or bait and switch for marlin. Live bait are going to get sharked. Tunas are eating everything. The first time I fished there I rigged all wire ballyhoos and mullet for wahoo. We got hammered by the YFTs. They were coming out of the water after the teaser right next to the boat. Utopia! Hope you brought your 80s. Its a battle between you and the shark for the yellowfin.
