Tuna South Florida Yellowfin

I am very fimiliar with the northeast canyon fishery for yellowfin tuna. I have been fishing south Florida for the past 3 years on a regular basis. Ft. Lauderdale,Miami, and Islamorada. We have had our fair share of AJ's, groupers, yellowtail, kings, blackfin, dolphins and sails. I would love to try for yellowfin tuna. It seems like that fishery is untapped. I know about the fish in the Bahamas, but I was wondering where one could fish a little closer? Perhaps on the Swordfish grounds.

They seem to like Cedars and Rapalas

Where did you depart from and where did you drop in the lures?

What time was that? I was in there at first light dragging spreader bars and Horse Ballys. Water was cold, bait was scarce. I fished 250 to 450 from Lauderdale to LHP.

UB did say he used up all his luck, maybe that was the problem.

I will be back in there to try it again. I do not think the West wind helped.

Hey Tuna Devil...
The report of the Yellowfin came around 12 noon-1 wednesday afternoon i would say....
It was caught 8-11 miles offshore.... the guy who caught it said he was 8 off but the boat who went to help bring the fish in the boat said it was 11 off.. I asked what he caught it on and he said just dragging baits.... They did say they were going to go to Lauderdale Marina and weight it in but i dont know if they ever did..

I got you good. I heard there was a pretty good weed line in 750. The guys fishing it were catching a couple dolphin from what i heard.
I thought you were talking about today. I should have read your post date. It looked pretty bleak today , hopefully the East wind will turn the water over.

Thanks for the info.
