Default New record big eye?

Hi guys,

Jason from La Gomera (Canaries) could catch a bigeye-tuna with 180kg. A new world record?
Here I found some photos....

Best wishes,
Uwe

Very short pec fins on that fish, looks like a bluefin to me. Very hard to tell though without seeing it in person

Look at the yellow finlets on it. That's not a bluefin.

Finlets on yellowfin, bluefin, and bigeye are all yellow and cannot be used to distinguish one fish from another. That fish is 100% a bluefin. The pec fins are too short, the body is too elongated, and the white markings on the belly (although hard to see) are not consistent with the markings of a bigeye. It's a beautiful fish and a great catch but its not a bigeye and as a result it will not be approved as the record.

Definetly a nice fish but, it is a Blue Fin not an Eye.
