The west coast has to run too far to get into tunas to do it, generally. For them to fish them, they've got to go all the way out to Lloyd's ridge, which is something absurd like 200nm from Tampa. Out of Pensacola, Orange Beach, Biloxi, or Venice you can get into tunas MUCH closer. I can give you info on boats out that way if you are interested.

I run out of Venice, La and offer 20 hour overnighters for 1300 plus fuel. Guaranteed yellowfin on the night trips and we generally get 10-12 a night plus a shot at swordfish after were done tuna fishing. Fishing out of a 26 glacier bay center console. Also have a 36 contender available.

The contender is 1700 plus fuel. I fish up to 4 on the glacier bay and 6 on the contender. June is probably my fav month but we slay the yellowfin at night from april-december.
