The Tiagra would be the better choice, hands down... I've heard soo many bad things about the Penn V series, and I have yet to hear of one serious problem with a Tiagra... I own the Tiagra 16, 30wlrs, 50, and 50wlrs and have had no problems whatsoever... I would recomend the 50wlrs over the 80, as it is significantly lighter and has the exact same drag system and drag curve---I throw on 500 years of 135 pound izor spectra with 200 yards of 100 lb suffix, and that I feel will be suitible for virtually any fish out there...

Once you own Tiagras you wont ever want to fish with anything else. The drags are silky smooth-waaaay better than the Penns, sorry to say.
