The Lump is continuing to produce good quality fish for me along with everyone else who endure a 50 mile ride in a headsea. I had Mark Blackburn, Dale Judy and Clete Turner and his father Dan Torres from Orlando out on saturday for a day of lump fishing. We started out fast with blackfin coming in on swimbaits and on chunks. Then my arch enemy moved in on us, the good for nothing kingfish. I might as well been chumming with 7/0 Frenzy hooks as fast as I was losing them. I would watch a king come up and hit the bare hook. The Ballistic flyers were getting mauled by the king also so I pulled them out of the spread. But I was to have my revenge three of them made a mistake and promptly went into the chum churn. We only had two yellows come into our slick and we caught both of them. Dan got the big one to eat a chunk of blackfin and the chase was on. I could see that Dan was starting to fade near the end of the fight but a few choice words from me gave him the grit he needed to get his 176lb yellow to the boat. As soon as we got back to the ball a much smaller yellow came up in the slick and ate anothr chunk of blackfin. Mark made short work out of him. With that fish the box was full so we headed to the barn. The take for the day was two yellows seven blacks and a nice AJ.
