Default Correct line for reels

First of all hello to everyone. Starting to get into some offshore for tuna and wondering what will be the correct line choice to spool up my new reels. I have purchased Okuma TG 50 W II's which I can put 420 yards of 80 lb. test on. Wondering if I should go with a braided base and a mono topshot or all mono, and what pound test should I be looking at. Would like to get a premium lines that will last a while and want to see what you guys are running to get some ideas on what to do. I am looking into going out off of Jersey. THanks for any info that anyone might have in advance.

Foremost, Welcome aboard!
I am not in love with Okuma reels. I'll write that off. I know that they have made improvements.
I would only be comfortable fishing your reel with no more than a 80 lb topshot. I would use 130 lb Jerry Brown Line One hollow core spectra for backing. Tek on this board can fix you up. I would pull a knotless loop into the end and loop to loop a 80 lb windon of 25 to 100 ft made by Basil. www.bhptackle.com/
You have a very fishable combo filled with a line that will endure many years fishing torture. When the topshot gets worn, change it out for a new one. All joins are 100 percent strength to this point.

I understand your point on the reels but for the budget that I had it was the choice that was at hand. They are paired with penn offshore rods if that makes you feel any better. My friend in Florida has had no complaints with the reels so far and they have stood up to the battles of southern swordfish so far. Thank you for the reply as I am looking into things right now. Great board by the way everyone.
