Default Lump Report 12-10-05

We made it to the lump for an early season trip this past Saturday. Arrived on location to find near perfect conditions. There was a blue/green rip that was splitting the lump down the middle, that is a rare find.

Pulled baits early with one wahoo bite that spit the hooks, then the kings moved in.

We set the anchor and started the chumming. Never did gat any bait in the chum and lost a few hooks to the kings. We did however have two good tuna bites.

Both bites came from way behind the boat. One stripped what had to be 150 yards of line off of the Everol before we were able to gain any back. THe fish then sounded and set in for the fight. When it started that tell / tell circling, I just knew that I had bragging rights to the 1st lump yellowfin for the season. Well it was not to be, the fish must have been gut hooked because he parted the line and lived to swim another day.

One other tuna bite with the same result, the new diamond just could not hold up to the fish chewing on the line.

The good news is that the Lump is showing signs that the fish are there, maybe the next trip will give me those bragging rights.
