If you could pick one place and time of year for yellowfins in the bahamas when and where would it be?

Rum Cay or San Salvador for sure. We're usually over there in mid-June, and always have great luck. We troll all morning and some of the afternoon for marlin, then about 3pm or so the 'fins would start show'n up on the humps. This past trip we were throwing back 50+ pounders becuase we ran out of freezer space.

81lbs

About 2 and a half hours of tuna fishing...

Only tuna of the trip that got munched on

When I was running out of Fresh Creek on Andros. The summer livebait chumming bite was pretty good. Flying a kite with a runner or gog got the biggest bites. But after chartering in Louisiana I only think of the bahamas as a place to go freediving. This might be a long shot but instead of spending the money to go to the bahamas for only a handfull of yellows. Drag your boats over or charter Louisiana boats and captains. Louisiana needs your dollars to help get her back on her feet again. Besides our tuna fishing on a slow day will blow the islands away on a good day.

Ya we've had some great days at hawks nest too. Columbus point gets unreal sometimes if u can get there when the bite is hot. They have an extremely nice bar and resturant setup for the south islands of the bahamas that is.

Capt. Mike....No doubt about Louisiana....what an amazing fishery....Not only Lump for the big boys in winter.....but summertime trolling and livebaiting for the big boys during the day and spanking 50-100 pounders on topwaters with spinning gear at night can't be beat....I got a chubbie just thinking bout it.....I love killing ducks and deer.....but stretchin' some mono on a fat tuna makes me go insane....Will see ya'll out there soon....

Brokdik,I agree with you 100 percent. I fished the lump on sat and sun with nothing to show for it but sharks and kings. It will turn on any day now. Any time you are out there you can hail relentless on ch. 68.
