Ivan-just got back. Caught a bunch of big dorado, a blue marlin and yellowfin tuna to 85 lbs while we were there. You will have fun fishing. You could also try ATV ing around Cabo and maybe some indoor sports since youre on your honeymoon!

Ivan,
The bigger tuna don't move in until the water cools a bit. Sometimes it has happed by now and other years it's later or even not at all. If you check the websites of the San Diego long range boats (Excel, Royal Star, Royal Polaris, Independence) if they are still fishing Alijos Rocks, and not inshore for the big fish, you know they won't be anywhere near Cabo. As soon as the fish show inshore, those boats all on 10 day trips at this time of the year will be near MagBay hunting them. Harry

Ivan there are some big tuna there now. Another boat in our fleet caught a 182 lber and Chris lost a very big tuna, easily over 100 and maybe 150 after the line parted at 45 mins on a 50 standup. They are mixed in with the smaller tuna and feed aggressively on live bait. Bring ballyhoo and 80 lb flourocarben trolling rigs with dressed with a mylar feather or sea witch. The bite might get better when the water cools but a good tuna fisherman has a good chance now.

Ivan Richard is 100% correct! The tuna are there now and they are good size. The boat I was suppoed to fish the bisbees on caught 7 tuna this week up to 150lbs.

Really wish I could fish the tourneys this yr but charters got in the way

Los Cabos is a great place to fish. We stay at Palmas De Cortez, and fish on a Bertram. (reasonably priced.) While the Tuna fishing gets very good, the average fish out of Los Cabos is only about 20-30lbs. They chum em up and catch em like we catch bonita here in summer.

If you really want LARGE YFT's I would point you towards Puerto Vallarta and maybe even fish w Josh Temple. He has a relatively new technique where he fishes live skipjacks & small YFT's from Kites. Many 200-300lb toads taken this way & the strikes are dramatic!

Pretty small dry dusty town & not muchfor the Mrs. ATV on the beach, or maye rent a car & drive out to Cabo. Very cool fish house in Los Barilles that will smoke, pack, fly your catch home for reasonable price.

E Money is correct about PV for the big cows. I fished there with Danny Osuna and caught two tuna that were 260 and two that were 300 lbs. He is a great fisherman and a lot of fun and much better priced than Josh Temple.

These are pictures of tuna caught at PV and last week in Cabo. I have caught tuna up to 200 lbs in Cabo but more commonly they are between 50 and 100. Still nice fish and great sashimi!!
