All YFT were caught on the troll. After the first couple passes had to get the baits as deep as possible. I use downriggers. Not saying that chunking or live bait would not work, But didn't need to change what was working
The largest we hooked was on top 1st or 2nd passs on a large zuker, my favorites are blue/white and pink/white. never got him to the gaff though,he was close to 100#. Difference between the skippies and YFT, I would see the YFT 200-300' down on my fish finder and stay with them untill we hooked up GOOD LUCK give us a report how you do!

![]() here is a picture of my wifes first tuna and she is now ruined. I was pulling a daisy chain of white and red cedar plugs, a dolphin colored yuzuri bonita(caught the biggest fish) and some lure called tuna XXX . I lost my daisy chain of cedars, had three big fish at once and one cut across the line and cut the third off. After that a single cedar plug blue and white caught a lot of fish but mostly small . Released a ton of tiny blackfins, if I had bait tubes I would consider trying live bait these for the real big tuna. I have been 3 times this year and I am hooked, hard for me to consider any other fishing this time of year.

Pumpkin ( weird to address a man as pumpkin even when I know it is a swordfishing thing) - we caught the big fish late afternoon. We did not leave the fort pierce inlet untill 11am , I had to work. The last few times I went over it seemed the tuna did not come up until around 2pm. So I figured we would fish till dark to hit the evening bite seemed to work out.

I'll be in Bimini for Memorial Day, but I'm going to make the run to the north of Isaacs at least one day to try and find the YFT.
I'm going to buy some lures and plugs today. Anyone have any specific recommendations other than the common cedar plugs?

I want to try an artificial flying fish, I think it'll draw strikes if it's skittering across the surface like the real thing. |

I love it, very solid boat always feel safe even in large seas. I have fished it pretty hard, fished in the keys for the ska running to tortugas sloppy weather, ran to the corner 3 times twice in 3-5, and fished a few times in bigger seas. It does excellent, a little wet at times for the passengers- but only when every center counsel is also. Hard to get it to bang hard on entry even full throtle trying to keep up with the ska guys in rough seas. I think everyone thinks there boat is the best, but one guy that fishes alot with me in the boat wanted to take my 29 instead of another friends 31 yellowfin to the ska in the keys when we found out the weather was a little sloppy in the keys. I think that says something.
I almost bought a yellowfin, but my wife loved the boat because of all the comfort features , I am very happy it worked out that way. Looked at the new 32 the other day ,they are making some nice boats. |

Shout at us if your are going to be over there for the holiday.....will be on friend's 32 luhrs (Brief Recess). Tight Lines and congrats on the catches (that would be the tuna and the wifey that loves to fish.....u are a lucky man my friend). Best, Frank Quote:
