I had Tom Brumfield and his brother and friend out on wednesday. We were supposed to fish an overnighter but the weather was supposed to be bad at night so we changed it to a day trip. We hit the gulf to almost flat calm seas. At the first rig Tom threw out a popper blindly and hooked a 30 pound yellowfin. Nice little start to the day. Toms brother then picked up a yf on a mirrorlure and we also caught two wahoo on mirrorlures before the troll bite went dead. Had some dead bait in the boat so we got on the upcurrent side of the rig and started a chunk drift and doubled up on 30 pound class yfs. The bite went dead for a while after that although we did pick up another schoolie on a popper. About 1130 a bigger school of fish came up and we picked up two fish in the 70 pound range on chunks. We also hooked a stud that took us down into the rig and eventually broke us off about 500 feet down around a cable or something. Dont see fish take 300 yards of line very often on one run.

The sharks showed up after that so we made a little more and managed one more 70 pounder on the chunk before we called it a day with 8 yf and 2 wahoo.
