I'm headed to Staniel and Sampson in Exuma then on to Fresh Creek in Andros for a boys' trip May 9th. I've been to Fresh Creek--about 5 years ago and fished the Sub Buoy (without much luck--we were hoping to catch yellowfins). So any recommendations or suggestions from anyone that's been there or familiar with fishing either of those areas, and especially for targeting tuna, would be appreciated.

We were there about two weeks ago and the dolphin were just starting to show up. We managed to pick some up schoolies trolling just north of of the inlet at staniel, around a small hill in 750ft. where it rises to 450ft. Good luck on finding the tunas.

Thanks PP. I've never been to Staniel so I'm looking forward to something new. I've heard the YFT are supposed to be more prevalent in Andros, so we probably have a better chance there.
From the other posts it looks like the YFT haven't started to show up in droves yet, so maybe our timing will finally be right--I'm due--last year we fished Riding Rock to Rum to Long over 5 days--2 Blue Marlin, countless big dolphin, a few snake wahoo, but no (ZERO) YFT!!! Hopefully we'll get some live bait and the birds will show us!! |

Fishensticker, Critter man hear just flew back from Cat Island the fish are not in yet, The Wahoo tournament is next week and there are very few boats registered our guess fuel cost, 5.40 gal. I will be moving our boat to Staniel this Friday 5-2-08 and will be there about a month normally great fishing this time over there just not yet, small yellow fins 15/30 lbs, fair size phins 25/45 lbs, wahoo still on the small side 20/35 lbs, the west winds were not a great thing, then the wind moved in from the north another reason no fish, as of today wind 20 knts out of east that is good should drive fish in and the baits. Good luck and look up Critter if you are in the Exhumas. JOS

JOS, the boat and owner arrive this Friday, and I'll be joining them on May 9th. Boat name is Leviathan--stop by and say hello.
Tight lines, -Wayde |
