Default blackfin report - miami

fished yesterday in my buddys new seacraft 32fter. got a really late start, caught about 4 dozen threads and headed out, saw a shit load of birds south of fowey, tossed liveys at 3 turtles. one of the turtles came right to the boat and i got to touch it on the shell before he went down. few minutes after that 2 frigates came towards the kite baits and hooked up a small sail, pitched out another livey and got a double on small baby sails. popped them both of with my new ARC DEEHOOKERRRR, works nice btw.

about 7:00 it starts getting a little nasty so we say ok 30 more min. im watching the kite baits when i see a massive school of blackfins ripping accross the surface towards the kite baits. been looking at 10-15lb blackfins at bmc all weekend, these were 3 times the size and coming straight out of the water, both kites busted off, let them eat it and reeled up the slack but both lines had no hook ups and baits were cleaned off. tried tossing as many liveys out there to get them to turn but they were hauling ass. was pretty cool.

Thumbs up

Ivan - great report

It's frustrating as hell when tuna are moving that fast. It's almost impossible to get in front of them for an ambush.

One thing about blackfins I've found is that there's little need to feed them. The bait is usually inhaled immediately. They're not like a dolphin that'll spit the bait if you come tight too quickly.
