Thumbs up top rope dolphin slam

The trip was a blast, the top rope dolphin slam was just instinctual polar bear behavior . Getting on the yfins would have been great, but the deep dropping, bottom fishing, and dolphin melee more than made up for the skittish tooners. Heres a couple shots of da big bull and crew.nobull.jpg

More snapper pics and such a little later

looks like you guys had a great time. I'm heading over there on friday if the weather cooperates. I hope some Tuna come in. Was the Dolphin bite better to the north or south? I was thinking of running up to Mantella shoal for some offshore in the morning and then bottom fishing midday.

Thanks

The weather wasnt that great for us to want to make that long run this past weekend. The boats that went up that way didnt fare that well, but I love it up there and I'd go if the weather allows and you dont find the fish on the way up there.

No YFTs for the Miss Jolain either, but its was fun. Final score was something like: two mahi about 20lbs each, a big cero mack, a skippie, a decent blackfin (on a butterfly jig), and while deep-droppin... 4 black snapper, 2 yelloweyes, 2 buttons, 2 almaco jacks, 1 small misty grouper, and lost several fish to broken branch lines and sharks. Even though we snagged bottom and lost 350yds of line, the deep-dropping over there was a lot of fun! So much more productive and mysterious than my drops off Florida's coast.

Here's some great pics of Tuna Devil's wife, Jolain, during her very first time deep-dropping! (I wonder if Daiwa makes the TB1000 in hot pink? hahaha)

There's only one thing wrong with that pic. Deepdropping means you have your right hand on the reel button and your left hand wrapped around a beer.

UB & Tuna Devil, nice pics and it sounds like your deepdropping was productive. Nice work!

1. Ya don't even have to hold the button on that reel. Just push the throttle forward. You could actually go make yourself a sandwich while the rig is coming up.

2. Her little bottle of white wine was in a nearby cup holder.

I thought a beer/little-white-wine bottle was necessary when using one of these contraptions. How else do you keep the line level?
