Default Bite was OFF THE CHAIN 22 out of Blue Marlin Cove 04/13

Was supposed to join the "tuna armada" but whimped out since I heard it was supposed to be SW at 20++ Sunday for ride home. (I hate NOAA )

I woke up Sunday AM & not a breath of wind, sorry Coop & crew, let's go next week instead.

DD hooked me up w Captain Rick & Clark & off we went pre-dawn.

Anyway, we planned a day trip to fish E side of stream & it paid off.

25 off, radar on, we hit first pack of terns on tunas. Put out 2 50's w Zukers and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Only trouble was it was a double of 15lb skippes. Kept trying for the yellowfin & got doubled up on skipped 3 more times. Then an inconsiderate angler in greem hull w white bottom & stenciled fish decideds to run up right behind us & put the fish down. Guys got mad, and so did I, how rude can you be????

Anyway, it was a blessing these idiots ran us off. We let them have the flock & headed back E a bit. OH BOY 2 frigates DIVING flyers getting up, i am getting excited. We just put 2 ballys out under the frigate, and within 3 minutes we missed a HUGE bull, and then I saw another Large fish in the wake, free spooled one back to him & got tight. Yeah buddy, BIG bull in the box.

Ok, we can still see the frigate & saw another BIG dolphin free jump & the frigaste is going ape ship on flyers, turning, diving, all the right moves.
Just 2 more ballys go back and WHAM 30.5 lb cow slams the blue/white.

Put em back out & ding dong, another 30 ish cow slams the bait. ZZZZZZZZZZZ
I got fired up & had to be told to "calm down" as I get a llil excited. :biglaugh:

Here's Brett w another slammer.

Just when they told me to calm down I saw ANOTHER big fin behind the starboard bally (keep in mind, just 2 baits, no riggers). I drop back, get tight, and OMG a MONSTER Cow hits the air. It's Ricks turn on the rod & I pass the rod & get the
gaff. Rick is not big on pics, so sorry no pic, but weighed cow weighed 35.5 back at the dock !!! :worthy:

Here is a shot of Rick in battle, (nice Jupier BTW)

OK, so we have upward of 130lbs of dolphin in the box (4 fish), and start heading back.
in 750 off Jupiter swe stop & put 3 baits out. Large Billfish hooked up on sea witch.
Fish jumps, drag is tight & line breaks at crimp. Looked like a small blue or big white. 5 minutes later, we getr an 11lb bull & call it a day.

Headed to the fillet table, hope you all enjoy & have a good one !!

Disco Lady:

I am surprised the guys did so poorly on the tunas & fishing over-all.
We were directly off West End & there were MULTIPLE flocks of birds on the radar 15-20 off

We were getting doubles of 15-20lb skipjacks on EVERY pass w the Zukers on the troll. Maybe the guys got into the rum & didn't want to run / fish too hard?

Congrats to you guys in the tuna run you guys had a good time that's all that matters

WTG E$. Killer Pics!!!

Got word from a friend friday that the Phins were in 1000 feet, so we snuck out of work and got out of hillsborough at 3:00. Just north of inlet in 180 feet I spot a pallet!!! We loaded up on shoolies with 2 in the 30lb range.
All that without a boat in site. I kept saying to my self " you got to be shitting me!!!". I think I burned just 2 gallons!!!

Saturday was slow. Took the GF out. Got one Skipjack in 600 and a couple of schoolies on the way back in 500. That was where the color change was

I am sorry if I came across the wrong way !!!
The initial reports I heard was that NO-one got Tuna, and the over-all bite was slow. I am NO expert & did not mean to come across as a jack-ass, if I did.

I was DYING to go, and glad you all had a great time !!!
I had to work on a rental apt Sunday & heard the weather was supposed to turn crappy, so I scrapped.

It was either the ice tray or your magic rocking bed that was some funny stuff.

Thumbs up BMC is da Bomb

We had a killer weekend @ BMC. Doc Bajakian was a super gratious Captain and host, and the " Fish Magnet" is a dream machine of a fishing vessel. The deep dropping was on fire, yelloweyes, buttons, silks, and black snapper. yellowtails and grouper cooperated too . The dolphin bite Sunday was el fuego. You could have caught as many as you wanted. Richard got a real nice bull that broke the 50lb scale @ the dock . Only the yellowfins evaded us . Quack and I filleted fish for about an hour each day and shared the snapper loot w/ the locales. BMC is top drawer accomodations. I think everybody had a great time, and I wouldn't hesitate a second on going back. Sounded like the Coasties were pulling everybody heading back to L.W. Inlet though Knock on wood we didn't have to endure a safety check.

Nice Job Eric.....seems like everybody that crossed caught big dollies

My buddy Chris fished out front this weekend fishing the Royal Palm Tournament....caught a 57lber and SEVERAL others over 30.

Only difference about $400 in gas and they won first place and $5000
