I have a buddy who has about 1200lbs of manhaden he is disposing of for $.50 a lb. I got dibs on at least 240 of it. If anyone else would like a chunk of it pm me so I can reserve it for you. The price is rght considering everything else is double the cost. BTW... it comes in 60lb flats.

Spoke to Shannon, she said we can stock it in her ice house if we need... just may need a lil help toatin it across if water is less than perfect. It looks like we will be crossin from West Palm if that helps. I can pick-up whatever you need when I get mine and have it there Thurs night. Just tryin to help the cause and save a couple $$. Leaves more $$ for rum.

For you guys that chunk....how are you rigged?
Long leaders connected to mainline with a small swivel or a knot to knot connection? What about a weight? Anybody everput an egg sinker above the connection like a carolina rig? I've chunked a few times at the midnight lump, but only had two results. 1st time the bite was so hot it didn't matter how we rigged. We could've tied hooks to our anchor line and hung them over the side. The other time (a few years later) we had 6ft long 60lb flurocarbon leaders tied with a spro swivel to 60lb mainline and never even got a whiff. Any tips appreciated. Thanks. |

chunking can be a bitch. I cut my teeth doing that shit in the Baltimore, Wilmington, Spencer, Lindenkohl and Poormans Canyons.
First tune the hell out of your sonar til you can see the thermocline. Try to get your baits down to there. Pull line off the rodtip while the reel is in near-free spool but with the clicker on. Make sure your hook is buried in the bait with just the hookpoint barely sticking out of the bait's flesh. Your bait should sink at the same rate as the chunk baits or the tuna will turn their noses up at it like a lotto-rich bum turning his nose up to some fortified wine. If the bite is a slow one, keep going down in leader size until they start hitting. You may have to go down as low as 20 lb fluoro. I'm not making this shit up. I wanna see you guys get on the meat. Don't bother with a snap swivel. Tie the leader directly to the mainline with a nice, clean uni-knot splice. Don't use Gamakatsu circle hooks. We called them Catholic Hooks because they pulled out every time . Owners, VMC's, sharpened Mustads, it's all good. Some folks like circle hooks, others prefer J-hooks. If I remember more crap later I'll post it on here. Good Luck, Catch
