After a few cancellations by several boats this weekend, I called up the boss to see if he down for a last minute trip. Of course the answer was "Whenever". Loaded the Yellowfin friday night and had a smooth crossing over Saturday morning and checked in with no problems. Headed back out a caught some nice yellowtails and a fat mutton. After a long night we were up at the crack of 11 and off we went. At the gas dock, people were telling us of stacked up 8 footers off freeport... got us a nervous, but we decided to take a peak. It was a good 3-6' and we weren't making much head way. Couldn't run across to gingerbreads, so we turned towards home and put out my favorite trolling spread(whatever we can dig up on the boat lol). With in 10 minutes we had a pack of frigates comin in hot and a 35-40lb bull slams a ballyhoo with a blue and white chugger head. After getting him to the boat we put em back out in search of more. By now the seas have laid down to 2-4 and still dropping. As we continue on for a another 30 minutes the crew was tired and I was left of watch. As Capt. TR-1 pointed up towards home I started to doze off too. That's when the 50 in up on the T-top and the short rigger started screaming. TJ hands it down and I start cranking. Wasn't sure what it was, but it hit the biggest lure we had a out. the fish sounded so we thought for sure we were tight on the big tuna. That's when I hear a splash on the other side of the boat and see this huge marlin going nuts! with 3/4 a spool out and the fish right next to the boat we drove away and finally got tight. Fish put on a good show before going deep. Fought her stand up for 2 hours before getting her up to the boat. Popped the hook out and dragged the 350-400lb beast around and while and she swam off good. We were pumped! First Marlin for the Killer Buzz and a first for all of us! It was getting late so we started running and gunning home. Found a pack of tunas that didn't want what we had, then did a couple day drops for swords before sun set... no bites, no tangles.
May head back this week to look long and hard for the tuna, but for now, here are the few marlin pics we got on the camera phone.

Looks like I'm a definite maybe. Will be crossing with Tuna Devil. Is there Internet service at the marina??? If so, I'll be able to pull the same BuoyWeather forecasts I do on this forum.

Whiteout... I'll be glad to help you toss Nick in the drink! He's due! hahaha

Oh... what's the quickest way to obtain a passport, without excessive rush fees? I already have onefrom my teen years, but it's way beyond renewal status. Please send a PM or e-mail to uncle_buck@mac.com
