Best Hook Size For Tarpon Fishing

I have been losing many fish on circles so I decided to start using a wide gap.. what do you experts think?

I am freelines live shrimp, so the wide gap might make the shrimp a bit harder to hook. Is there any trick to hooking the shrimp?

Im no expert, but we have had great success using Penn 4/0 red circle hooks with live shrimp for poons. Hook em in the head using care not to hit the brain. Once they are picked up by a poon just real down hard on em and the fight is on. Good Luck!

Do you use conventional or heavy spinning for the bigguns?
