FL109.jpg

55 inches I think. Caught back in early 2004 if I recall.
Wrapped under the props and the risktaker saved it with a miraculous gaff shot.

the one that got everything started to our already frustrating fishing lives and leading us to a downward spiral of shame when coming home empty handed to the family, but I still love that purple whore! my brother to the left (lcagator)

Yeah, I remember that fish. But I don't think that you meant to say that I saved it: we caught it, no salvation for the fish. That was a few years back and we were all starting to learn how to catch swordfish. You had the boat and I had some of the tackle. Thanks for the opportunities to get out there fishing with you. Yeah, lucky thing that we had a 12 foot gaff since the fish was wrapped around one of the screws and hovering about 7 feet down and under the hull.

Oh, and it that brings back memories: also remember when I finally got to reel one in myself on the original Italian Stallion (FinalPoint w/the turbo-diesels). This was not the first swordfish aboard this vessel, but it was the biggest thus far, and the first one hooked in the dorsal fin. That was a fun fish to get into the boat because of the way it was hooked.

That was in 2004 with a 125 lb. swordfish. (Middle of summer)

Then, of course there is also the first daytime swordfish in the boat on the Hailey Ryan: fast forward to the year 2007, with a 290 lb. swordfish. (Calm DAY in late September between weather systems.)

Oh, those sweet memories. Hopefully many more to be cherished after the first one.
