It's very easy to loose track of time, when chatting about our swordfishing obsession.
Don't hesitate dropping by if your around his neighborhood.

Glad to see you to make it to this area of Suburbia. From your post, you enjoyed your visit to, RJ Boyles' studio & Tackle shop.

Just in case you did not already know, RJ Boyle is the President and founder of the Swordfishing Club. Some people know this, and some do not. I am not sure if you do,or not. No offense, if you know this already. But as I suggested before; if you need any assistance with thoughts or ideas for establishing another swordfishing centric club in the Miami-dade area, the swordfishing club will help you in those details, and you have met the founder of the organization, personally. But it takes a Crew to get things done.

P.S. - As far as the video; the hype is too much for me to comment.

Hey guys to make it clear the fish was caught on an electric reel. We were fishing in extremely deep water with only a huntch to go on. The fact that we caught one here off of Ft. Lauderdale in the middle of the day and then I got in and got some really cool underwater video is what makes this unique. No, we were not the first to do this. No, we were not the first to think about it. No, I didn't have a 6 hour grueling battle and need medical attention afterwards but I couldn't have been more excited under any circumstance. I look forward to the day when I see one of my buddies hooked up right next to me in the daytime when I can see his big ole' Mule cart wheeling in the sunlight. Ya, I still plan to fish for them at night but I would much rather try and perfect a system for catching them during the day. Wait till you have one up along side the boat and you got to see the whole fight and his colors are just beaming. It is a cool feeling. I have caught a LOT of blue marlin, Black Marlin, Stripies, sailfish and to have a sword up during the day is majical! Try it!

Untill all the kinks are worked out so to speak.Like depth, time, tide, bait etc electric is the way to go.I have tried the manual way and it is no fun reeling in 2000ft of line esp when the break away will not break away! The next time I try I see a button in my future.Good job on your fish again.

Can't wait! That's what it's all about is thinking outside the box a little and not being afraid of failure when trying something new.

I hae done a few drops now with no success yet, and it is a royal pain in the ars to reel up. But, thats why I man the helm and let the other guys man the rods.

I have to tell you guys...Rob is being a little bit modest here. The footage doesn't show it, but at one point the fish made a hard charge right at him while he was in the water. Thank goodness he was pretty tired out at that point, but he definitely stretched me out on the leader.

Bobby Boyle and Bill from Global Fish Mounts were telling me the yesterday about some of the fish they have caught doing this. The common theme is that these fish from the deep seem to be way more pissed than the ones we catch at night. Maybe it's something about being awakened and hauled up during their midday nap!!!

I really look forward to hand cranking these suckers, but remember, this is just the beginning.

Bobby is a nice guy.. Didn't know he was the founder of the Swordfishing Club. He's very knowledgable. I enjoyed the visit I made to his shop. Thanks for your offer to help get the Miami club off the ground. I truely appreciate it. It does take a lot of work to organize a club, especially with the everyday work load I have running my own business'. We've had a couple of meetings so far and expect more to come soon. I'll keep you posted.

I think it is awsome that this whole thing with Daytime swordin' has come out and there has been nothing but good conversation. I know first hand that these forums can get down right naste at times and with over 2 thousand views and nearly 60 comments there has only been poitive feedback. I sorta feel like this is on the verge of something very special. Why do we love catching swordies at night? Because thats when you can catch them.... well now that we learing how to catch them during the day I can only imagine watching one of my buddies backing down blowing black smoke and a big ass "Sword Donkey" airin' it out. If that don't jack you up what the heck will.

Anyway, this was my first experience with this forum and I think you all are a bounch of nice guys with nice things to say. Thanks

Rob,

I leave for Venice, La tommorow, my video camera skills SUCK! Next time we are bringing you Anyways, I just got that underwater casing for the Sony, obviously you dont use that but would you know if it gets a good picture?? We tested it out on a flying fish in the light at night time and it came out pretty good, but havent jumped in during the day yet. I want to get some Tuna footage.

Since we are on the topic, if you dont mind me asking what Camera are you getting such footage with, or is it a casing as I have?

Thanks
