Default Swordfish In Daytime

Hi friends... I´m from Spanish Mediterranean area, here there´s a couple of places that you can target swords trolling daytime. I know it´s an uncommon behave of broadbills but here as in Messina or Mazatlan (Mex) and few more places.... daytime trolling lures..... it works.
Only little sizes are available by this technics, the average weight is in between 8 & 12 pounds.
This August I´ll be at States, in Texas.. but broadbill is my madness so I´ll probably fly to Florida to see how you guys target them in nightime.
I would like to know some information about whom can I contact to fish.
This picture is my last daytime "baby-sword" .
Actually I would like to ask if someone did target them in daytime to share information about lures and technics.
Thanks
TONO

cono tono....el swordfish ese esta chiquito compay.

47'' inches from lower jaw to fork of tail is the minimum size here and most of us only keep them if they're well over 50."

So if you keep one like the one you're holding up you'll be fishing in the graybar hotel's toilet.

Suerte.

120 cm from the lower jaw to fork of tail is the minimun size here. I just keep what I do eat..... Here we fish one or two a year..... the rest we fish albacore and BFT, that´s why..... It´s really uncommon to get them and we just kee the trophy. I just would like to go to your place and see how you "play the game"... I never did at nightime and would like to see how you do "in live"... thet´s why I´m planning my trip to Florida.

Default Yes, you must visit SE Florida

Holbox:

Bienvenidos. You will love to swordfish off of the Florida southeast coast.

I hope you can connect with a nice size fish for a great experience!

I also hope that you can return home with an appreciation for the pride that we have in our fishery, and the conservation measures we endure in an effort to keep it this way for decades to come.

As a foreign exchange person, I wish that you can bring back with you a sampling of that pride and passion we have as American fishermen, to help instill the importance of similar conservation ethics in the Mediterranean and East Atlantic waters. It is very important for all of us to have a like mindset and ethical behavior. You fishing here with us can enable this exchange.

Mucho gusto,

Thanks again for your warm wellcome, I´m very used to read your forums and I´ve allready write an receive private messages from some members, since one year ago. I really love this fishery, and probably take notes about your knowledge. For sure there are huge ones here, professional longliners get sometimes monsters. We have the thermocline at 12 miles from port and in good weather nights I can try your fishery here.

Hi Tono,

I'm in Malta, and here they mostly catch on long lines. We've seen a few jumping during the day but never had a hook up myself. We've got the US style rigs for night time with a Swordlight and using the balloon method but would love to know more about catching Med swords by trolling.

What were you using, speeds etc?

Nick

Hi npm108

I troll them as if they where white marlin whem I know they´re there. It´s really unusual the capture but if you target finally got them. Every single lure used 4 marlin could work... but if I were you... I´d probably keep "in the dark side" of this fishery... you´ll get more strikes 4 sure.

I´ll be in Ft Lauderdale & Miami from 16 to 22 of August. I hope I can know some of you guys. If someone is going out there in the night and need crew... here we are !
