Well, I have been swordfishing for a few years now and recently came up with a rule on my boat and since doing so, we have caught and landed atleast 1 fish.
WE RESET EVERY HOUR SOME PLACE NEW Meaning we only soak baits for 1 hour if there is no bite. If there is a bite then we dont bother... While you can take this knowledge and do what you like, we have been catching fish when we here people crying about lack of bite. It seems that each night on our 3rd reset or so we drop the bait on their heads... There are many theories as to why we keep getting the bites off the bat... Anyways, good luck out there.

I agree, if you do not start out on the fish, move around until you find them.
Also, there are a lot of advantages to picking up every hour, whether you move locations or not. Though it is a lot more "fun work", you are always checking baits to make sure you are not fishing on credit. In addition, I believe the physical act of moving the spread around and your baits tends to attract fish into the spread. Keep up the good work

Resetting is good especially if your staying on the same line/depth. However, if your drifting over contours and moving in or out, especially when chumming hard with squid, I have also had some luck being patient.
We're entering prime season for slobs now. The biggest sword I've caught has been a 62'', 120 pounder. I need a girl over 70'' and over 200 lbs...a nice sloppy sow. I have not fought one more than 40 min. I want my Tiagra to scream with that nasty clicker. I want to have to step into a harness and feel that burn in my shoulers, lower back and forearms.I need to fish. Juan |

Yeah dude. I like to feel that pain for days (good pain) that's a reminder that I hooked up. It's just like the pain you feel when you catch a mermaid and have a long swim in a hotel room and the knees, quads, triceps and back are wrecked. Actually, if you feel no pain after fishing/#$@&*^% you haven't done well.

Hey, that is the best thing I have heard all day, about fishing at least. But my wife did remind me that she makes Love every Thursday. And today is Thursday! She said it didn't matter whether I was there on not: it is still Thursday.

No! Because I am planning on fishing tomorrow and I don't want her to get any ideas, especially if I am not around.
It is bad enough when the fishing plans materialize on Thursdays. Then I have to decide whether to get Jiggy with it or to rig squids instead. ![]() That is not correct: my wife allows me to fish but she is jealous of the time lost, well except for the times we have fresh fish in the cooler. And she especially despises my "hooker" girlfriend that is always sitting on my desk. Maybe that is the reason why she has set her own terms. If I asked for more days, I would really have to be careful what I ask for. I would rather just surprise her with spontanaity on any other days. (If you got the punchline, you understand the joke.)
