During the 05 Miami Swordfish Tournament we had a doubble header blue Marlin release both fish over 200 pounds. That was the only time we ever go one. And they both bit deep baits 1 minute apart.

Nice work out there guys.

This fish was not even hooked, she was barely lassoed around the bill, no clue how she did not come off during the 3 minute aerial show. Anyway she came in in about 5 minutes due to the 23lbs of drag and was never taken out of the water. Pics were taken within 90 seconds and she was sent on her way kicking strong. I have about 10 pics and all of them are half ass because the number one priority was a healthy release. Stop the hatin youngin!

Anyways thanks to all for the ID. I am swaying towards White now that I have looked closer, but still am not quite sure, the dorsal fin was somewhat pointy, but again it all happened so fast.

As always gotta thank the crew, Garret and Ryan, along with Johnny who has never shyed away from passing on techniques he has picked up from the veterans.

Funny thing is we caught a sword later in the night and I would have liked to stay out all night and boated a sail in the morning to complete the Slam, but work would not allow. After checking the record books I could have been one of the few to have a Billfish Grand Slam in Florida, and one of seven to have a Grand Slam including a Sword, most of the others were caught in Venezuela.

Thats what I thought
In one pic the dorsal looks round but in another it looks pointed

Still nice no matter what it is!

Just relooked at the pics. Look at the ventral fin.

Its definately a white, very round ventral.

Now you have me gunning for a grand slam. The closest I ever came was in Venezuela on a white blue and sail. (damn blue threw the hook)

I meant zero disrespect when I posted that comment. I just observed that the fish's head was out of the water -- so I posted it.

Awesome job on the healthy release and congrats the she stayed glued long enough to get a hold of her.

Default How did you make the harness attachment?

Johnny:

That is a very impressive spinner setup in the photo from your last post.

I notice the harness clip you have on the rod but I cannot clearly see exactly how/what the loop is. Would you care to elaborate on that feature? I have wanted to do that to one spinner as well.

One of these days, I imagine a sword will be brought (hopefully) in by spinner because I like to have one ready for a pitch bait when all of the conventionals are in use. Perfect for dolphin too because they have no problem chowing on a big ole squid.

Its always all good, just never want people to shy away from posting reports because they don't want to deal with the comments.

Jr. I only wish I knew what swording was at your age, but then again I would have probably never made it through high school or college.

RT,

I have lost several swords on the spinner = I SUCK!!! That is why we built that ....I have gotten dumped to the knot on the Fin Nor Ahab and a Baitrunner prior to purchase. Both of those fish were<60" and ate freelined Pilchards while we were live chumming out there.

I have only put it down a couple of time because it spends the majority of its time in Nick's garage and the reel is currently being repaired to some issues. It works great in the harness.....I have had trouble hooking the fish on the rig, but school has prevented me from fishing it too much to get a system down. Plus...Feels silly putting the spinner out next to 130/80s.

The spinner is a Calstar 700h, the rings are made by

Reel*Colors*Home*Page

If you would ever like such a spinner, contact Matt up at Crowder he helped us with design and has since built himself the same rod basically.
