Default San Diego Squid

Just got these pics of some squid my Uncle & Cousins caught off of San Diego last weekend. I am planning a trip out there in Oct and we're going to give the Swordies a go (not many target them there) - Maybe rig up a couple of these big boys and put 'em down on a 130?

Alot of guys are killing those humbolt squid off the 805 right now. I would think they got those there. They are not good eating without alot of work and even then they can go south on you.

They make good lingcod and rockfish bait but thats it.

They are also as fun to catch as a car bumper. We often joke when someone brings up the Idea to tie off to a hitch ball and pull forward slow.

I eat them raw!

I watched a show on the Discovery channel about these squid. I do not know if it is true or not but reports were that swimmers/divers in deep water have been attacked and bitten by these squid

I prefer to keep them on my hook rather than the other way around. If I remember correctly, they have thousands of razor sharp hooks on each of their suction cups let alone their extra long and sharp mouth beaks!!!

Somebody caught a medium sized mako here recently that had some squid bites out of it. I've seen a video where a guy had a squid on the line and another squid came up and ate it. When these things are feeding they are voracious.
