Yeah I wish I had the time to go.
The fish went 850lbs.It was caught on the Celia P with Nick and Coco P.It was a great bite with white water flying and an exciting battle to say the least.Nick will send me some pics to post up when they get back in a couple weeks. He says the fish are coming through with this wind. They have seen hundreds of fish and have got 4 bites this year already. If any one can make it over they still have some dates available for fishing. One of the greatest things to see in the sportfishing world is the site of 50 500lb to 1000lb tuna cruising on the flats. Then when they bite it looks like some one dropped a car from a plane Congrats to the Capt and crew of the Celia P and there angler Tony. Were is the link to there website.Go into the gallery section to see some awesome pics.Look in the tribute to our father section. There are some great pics of old school fishing. There dad was a great guy and a great fisherman. My dad is in a bunch of the pics as well Capt Chuck Willer.

That's how they've been catching em for years. Hemingway used to love doing this. In fact, some big money people over the years have sent up planes and helicopters to spot the schools and alert the boat as to where they are at. I have some video somewhere at home from the 1960s showing how they nail bluefins near Bimini as they come up the Old Bahama Channel and stray into the bank. In all my years of fishing the Bahamas, I have never tried it.

But yeah, what a rush to be just off Gun Cay and hook one up.

Default June 1st

Joe,
The June 1st rule is only in US Federal waters.
It has nothing to do with the Bahamas.

Tight Lines!

as far as I know you can catch blufin tunas in the bahamas any time you like, up to 6 at a time.

I asked the fisheries guy about swordfish and how many we were allowed to posess and he was unaware they even existed in the Bahamas.....said we could have 6 just like all the other pelagics.

It's funny because I thought it may have been your dad because of the resemblance (sp?).
