I got word that something diffrent happened. I heard river marine got busted for selling stolen lights and they knew they were stolen. Heard from a guy who was in the store that one of the big guys from LP was in there and saw 5 gal buckets of LP lights in the back, no boxes no paper trail or anything. The guy from LP went to the people at LP and asked when they started distributing to river marine. Well, LP dont sell to river marine. All the lights in those 5 gal buckets were stolen lights and somone whos name im not going to say was arrested that day. I doubt it was him who stole them but ill bet he knows who he bought them from. F@#$ing dirt bag scum of the earth. He was arrested for selling stolen goods but i do not know if they ever got the guy who was stealing the tackle. After last ngiht i guess that hes still out there. I just hope my buddys at my shops beef up the security. i didnt konw RJ, or the guys at Chaos but i would hate to see my freinds robbed like that.

Heard the news this morning and was shocked. This really stinks for sure. Sounds like the same crew that made the 2nd attempt to hit Chaos. When they couldn't get through the metal gate, they broke in next door and tried to bash through the common wall. Lucky for Chaos, the wall was block.
Bobby works hard for his piece of the pie and to have it stolen doesn't sit well with me. Theives SUCK! |

Reminds me of somthing that happened to a buddy of mine at his hobby shop.
SOB's actually chopped a hole in the roof, which was a reinforced concrete slab. My question is how many guys are going to buy their stuff from pawn shops now with no questions asked. At this point I'm ready to only buy from reputable dealers and people now. Even going to forgo Ebay I think. Hope they get these guys and anyone who buys from them.

Side note: It may be a good idea for big-game reel and rod mfgrs to serial-number everything. That way it's possible to identify stolen merchandise if someone attempts to sell it. It'd be a good indication to consumers if the SN# is missing, it may be 'hot'. I guess it would be more of a theft deterrant than anything else.

Did you mean for the retailers to mark them down?

Something like that. Not sure if they do it already, but retailers should keep track of of the serial numbers in-stock as well. So when something like this happens, the numbers can be reported. If theives knew that they could get busted at both ends of the crime, maybe the risks would be too steep.
Oh well... that's a perfect-world scenario, and doesn't do much for Boyle's current loss. Thieves suck. I kinda hope it's the same folks that pulled off the LP and Chaos jobs. That way, when they're finally busted, that particular crime spree will subside. Last edited by Uncle Buck; 04-20-2007 at 03:09 PM.. |

That really sucks. We always go to Bobby's shop to load up on his latest T-shirts when we come out there. We'll be there for the tournament next weekend and plan on stopping by his place to load up again. Hope they catch the thieven basturds by then. The world has no use for scum like that.

Kristal was also hit last summer, before LP Caos and others. I heard most of the stuff was going south to central and s. americas for commercial use. These reels and lights are just so good these days and the people down there are too poor to buy them so there is a very attractive market for stolen gear.
There is clearly an organised theft ring still out there somewhere that we all need to be mindful of.

I'm VERY sad to hear this about Bobby's shop. I use to work for Chaos and delt with Bobby on many occasions. Great guy and very dedicated to the industury/fishery. Prayers are sent to him.
A shame we have such thugs as these running around our streets steeling from hard working Americans whom are trying to make a honest living. Once caught they should ALL be send out as shark bait on the 50 .I've been wanting Bobby to paint my first sword bill for awhile now. Maybe this would be a good time to have him work on it for me. |
