Default SFC Idea

When we give a sword report maybe we should put our HMS confirmation number at the bottom of the post. Realizing that sometimes you do not get a number right away we can always go back and add it later.

An added benefit to this is that we would see how many fish have been reported reciently even if we have not been able to get out.

Example; here is my report from Thursday with the confirmation #

__________________________________________________ _______________
Nice ride out in 1 footers, set up at dark, slow push out, nice drift, there was a small flurry of activity on the radio for the first hour then things slowed down all night. We had 1 slashed bait and a nice 58incher in the boat 1/2 hour after dark. The fish fought like a champ Gave the 80 a nice workout, nice ride in at midnight - 1 foot or less.

Yes, good idea. But those who post are not always the holder of the HMS permit. When I fish with EmiJess, he's the one who files the landings with NMFS, but I'm usually the one who posts the report online.

I like the idea ... i may not get out to the darkside to often and catch many swords ... I did get my HMS permit for my 16ft boat ... think it`s a good idea everyone should get a HMS permit if fishing for swordfish ..especially if you are writing letters and emails to NOAA or GOV. to show you really care for our fishery.

Miamiangler good for you. HMS is good thing to have even if your boat is a 16
Over the years have seen lots of skipjacks back at the docs and wondered if they knew they needed an HMS (same story with sails which need to be 63")

my numbers from Monday night catch 1541 and 1542, no number on the left-over head or Mr.Mako.
Btw, he was pretty tasty...

Hmmm... I wonder if that's considered a "kill" by the NMFS?
