What are the best months to Swordfish off of Lauderdale? I want to go to Stuart in the Middle of February. I was wondering if a night or two of Swordfishing may be an option.

Thanks!

Jeff,

February is a great time to get out.. We like December - Februrary the best actually. I think the guys up in Stuart like the same... Just have to get calm seas...

It's pretty much a year round fishery. They do seem to 'vanish' from time to time, but that never lasts long.

Maybe they don't even vanish. Maybe they are out on the 45

That's why I put 'vanish' in quote marks. I've been swording since the 70s and when they 'disappear' I haven't been able to find them. I've tried super deep baits, moving way in and moving way out. I'll pick up the odd fish here and there but nothing that my spreadsheet would say for certain where they are. Now, if you know where they go, just tell me what you like to drink. :salut:

Up off cape cod we got a few pups last summer which we quickly returned unharmed .My question to you is do you catch a lot of pups down there or are they mostly larger

We see our fair share of small fish (40-50 in), but I would say most fish go between 80 and 120 lbs, at least recently. There have been a handful of nights with 4 or more fish going over 200 lbs already in 2005! I'm sure there will be a few 400 lbers by forum members soon.
