Default Hollywood Hills Swordfish Science and Social Club

The Hollywood Hills Swordfish Science and Social Club (HHSSSC) will
host its second meeting at my house in Hollywood on Saturday, March 24
at 8 pm. The HHSSSC is very informal, no dues, very little rules, all
those interested in swordfish (or having a good time) are invited to attend.
The topic of discussion is, How to best analyze PSAT data from tagged swordfish in the Florida Straits. Drinks, pizza, and snacks will be served. Feel free to bring a friend or two and of course, any food or drink donations are gladly accepted but are not mandatory.
Please email me at amariano@rsmas.miami.edu or call 954 923 0258 and let me know if you are attending this meeting (and what you like on your pizza!) or you would like to join the club but can not make this meeting. cheers, arthur

We are fishing the Miami SKA event Sat and Sunday. So I think I'll be to sore to stop by Saturday night. And even if I could make it... I have a feeling that I wouldn't make it back to the boat for the Sunday start

Have one for me!

ProfessorO:

Sorry, could not make it, as we were hangin out, on the water, with the family. All good when you have your family with you.

One day I would like to make it, to a HHSSSC event. Put me down on your membership list, in case you need it for advance notice.

Perhaps we can talk about an improved structure for data gathering.

And reinforcing the importance to report those landed billfish.

Cheers, mon. RT

Just a quick summary of our party, I mean meeting. About 1/2 of the
club's 50 members showed up including a number of oceanographers
and fishery scientists from RSMAS and NOAA. We ate and had a few
drinks for awhile and then a hour long group discussion. We
talked about the PSAT data and how we can analyze it, whether swords can really see color, where we caught fish besides the 50 line, and Dan brought some of his lures he uses for trolling and was very open with info about how to troll for swords. Capt Ollie talked about light preference though the
scientists were a little skeptical about the color; maybe the different
colors put out a different intensity of light and the shading is different
for different colors as Ray suggested. Justin spoke about his upcoming
thesis work and rasing $$ for satellite tags. It was great meeting new
people: Willi, Jocko, Dax, Mick and Dan's daughter Amanda. The Reel Lies
fishing team was there in full force; Paul, Favey, Andy, and Mark, it
was great to see you guys and I hope to be fishing with you soon. If
anyone would like to join our club, email your email address and phone
number to amariano@rsmas.miami.edu The next meeting will be
end of April or early May and then a big party in July. I hope to see
Risktaker and others at the next meeting. We welcome anyone with
a recreational or scientific interest in swordfish. Most of our members
belong to other fishing clubs and the HHSSSC is always willing to work
with others for the good of our fishery. THANKS to everyone who brought drinks, ice, and goodies; your sharing makes it possible for me to host
these meetings at my house. cheers, arthur

PS Watch for the next SAIL club announcement for the 1st week of April,
it will be for a seminar that many of you will enjoy.
