Default Stolen Contender

Get this! Saturday night 3-19, my 31 Contender was stolen from a fenced and guarded marina in Ft. Pierce. I went to pick up the boat and bring it home Sunday, when I saw she was missing. Sometime between 8:00pm and 6:00 am, someone hooked up and hauled her out. I called all my friends... thinking practical joke, Not. To make a long story short, Cops came, friends called friends, and would you believe a buddy of mine was coming back from Palm Beach when he saw my boat on the southbound shoulder of I-95 in Stuart...going to Miami I guess. Lack of trailer maintenance saved my ride ... blew a right rear tire, and they just left it. Unfreakin believable. I don't think they even looked in the boat. All my $hit was just like I left it.

Moral of the story, buy a tongue lock, and keep your spare tire in your truck.

Dang it !! If that tire hadn't blown, you could have been my new deck hand with a gas card.
I would bet money that the next time you would have seen your boat, it would be on the 6:00 news, rolling in the surf on Jupiter Island, with a tribe of Hatians scrambling across the beach like roaches in the kitchen at Denny's.

Good news to see you got it back relatively unharmed. I would guess that your insurance company would pony up for the "damage" that was done to your well maintained trailer.

Call me when the wind stops blowing, its tuna time !!

glad to hear you got it back without any 'damage' or anything missing. Certifiable is right, you may have seen it next on the news with a boatload of illegals. did you order that tongue lock yet!

TONGUE LOCK..

my boat was stolen from my front yard around 3pm on a Thursday. it had been sitting with a slow leak in one of the tires for a few days so the tire was flat. my brother filled the tire for me and the next day (Thursday) some slime bucket G'd my $hit. my grand mother was home and heard them. she thought it was me. when she figured it wasn't she called me and asked if i just came and got my boat. like catching a hammer to the head when it dawned on me what she just asked me. well, stolen, stripped and dumped the same day. got the hull and trailer back. seems the pond scum didn't unhook the chain from the winch when they tied the dock line to the eye on the transom then to a tree to pull the hull off the trailer when the cops called to say they found a trailer registered to me would i like to come pick it up from the dump scene. I did and guess what. IT STILL HAD THE MASTER TONGUE LOCK ON IT. seems the squid $hit's had a way to pick it up with the lock in place. Now I have a krypto lock system that has rings bigger than the jaws of the biggest bolt cutters. wont stop them but will sure slow them down. ps insured for more than it was worth.

WHOOPS, SHOULD HAVE SAID THIS HAPPENED 10 YEARS AGO...

Damn! Not that anybody would want to steal my POS, but dammitman .... I hate a freakin' thief! I've been burglarized in the past and know the feeling of being "violated". The Insurance companies are a joke when it comes to recovering your losses and I can only serve notice to future burglars/nightime thieves at my place ..... Be prepared to look at life from the inside of a body bag!

Default Good ending

Mike, Lauri and I saw your boat on sunday coming back from the funeral, I commented to the wife that I couldn't beleave that someone would leave a boat like that on the side of the road with no one letf to watch after it, ( thought about truning around and hooking it up myself - not quite) it was about 12:30 I think when we saw it , I didn't catch the name going 80 mph or would not have known it was your boat. Hope that the new reels work as well for you as they had for us. JOS

hey warrior, i know a few guys who have had the same problem with a yacht club i belong to. a 60ft ocean was stolen from its slip one night. not exactly inconspicuos but it was brought to the miami river, striped for every thing it had and set a drift in front of ft lauterdale. we got a few people to gether and had the club hire more guards and implement more chekups on the boats at night, they also putin a system that when you take you boat out of the marina on the trailer you got to show ID and sign it out.
i am sorry for you but happy you got it all back.

Default Stop thief, or should I just shoot without aiming.

Sorry to hear about the assault on your stuff.

But, has the concept of Lo-Jack become obsolete already?

If it is good for the goose, it could be good for the gander.

Your call, on what security measure you choose , if any.

I just wish your granny had a semi-auto hi-capacity shot gun in her lap.
Questions first, response as appropriate. Just hope your boat did not obstruct the path, of the fire power.

Same story a year or so ago, in Alice Town: Contender, nice size, gonzo.

Sorry. Perhaps the good samaritan justice to thieves shoud become a renewed faith; after due review.

The next time around you will own a Venture.

Hey John, Thats crazy you saw my boat on I95. Even crazier, after I got the call about someone seeing the boat on the side of the road, I jumped in my wifes truck and drove down there. When I arrived, no one was around, and the martin co police showed up. I got out of my truck and was graciously shown the officers gun. He didn't believe that the boat was mine, and proceeded to ask me for my ID. Moral of this part of the story, always carry your wallet on you! I'm such a jacka$$, but you can imagine my mentality at this point.

Tongue locks don't do anything. I brought his up about two years ago on FS. All some one has to do is undo the two bolts that hold on the tongue on to the trailer and then slip a new one on, bolt it down, and in 5 min that tongue lock is absolutely pointless

Sorry to hear about your ordeal, but at least you got all your stuff back undamaged

My agent stated if I install a GPS Tracking device my premium will be reduced. I am seriously thinking about it. He stated the 7100 model will work but the 8100 works even in the ocean. According to him, if a fool took the vessel for a ride on the Atlantic you can see it from your home PC. It is real time and your family can even track you to see where in the ocean you are located.
