All 5 of our 50 Wides are two speed. We've never used the low gear for Swords. With a lighter drag for Swords then say a Yellowfin we wouldn't ever expect to use the low gear. If pumping up a Yellowfin with 40 pounds of drag I'm sure the low speed would be the reel selection. I put it in the catagory of "gotta have it" but never use it.
