Default Daytime Swording Technique?

Do you do something different when swording during the daytime? Depth, light, Bait?

You use Bolony, a fish Wistle and about a zillion miles of line on your reel!

Does it have to be Boars Head or will the cheap stuff work just the same?

The day time technique is most def classified and we would all like to know but them boys down in the keyes are writing the book on it and they ain't talking, yet. Give it some time and I'am sure you'll get wind of it. I think right now the best way to learn is to charter the "Catch 22".

There is a kids section on this forum? To think I have been wasting my time talking to these so called adults.

Lighten up Frances.

Hey Max`d out .. well it is a secret down in the Keys where they do daytime swording ... so not many guy`s have tried it up this way ... I`m working on a Idea .. but need some flat sea`s to try it out ... I did find out some info ... that might help someone else also ... think of a big chicken rig ... 12ft leaders every 50ft ... each has lights on it .. with a 20# weight ... drops down to the bottom ... this is done with a bandit rig (electric) way to heavy for my boat ... but heard of two swords at a time caught this way ... I`m going to try something the same just lighter ... let you know if it works ...

Willie was thinking of something along those lines, or just doing a normal rig and dropping it slowly with the engines in reverse. We tried with Shane and we were able to get the baits down to 500-600 feet but the current was slow that day. We did pull up that Lancent fish just as the sun was setting.

are you saying it is almost like a buoy et up but instead of a buoy ball it is attached to the reel?

I dont know much about buoy ball ... since I have been out there deepdropping ...I have made a rig already for doing it ... was thinking of using two hooks 50 ft apart .. but think when I`m out there by myself it would be to dangerous wiring the fish ... I have hit bottom with 3# lb weigth ... with a strong current running north I power drift heading south to keep the weight on the bottom ... but with swords so long it is close 30-100 ft off the bottom should be no problem doing it ... just that my reel is loaded with 1500yds of 50#braide ... just have to see if I can get a sword up with that light line..so long it`s not a 200-300 # .. then I will be out there all day long would love to get one of those lancet fish or any other wierd fish.. also trying for those barrel fish ....... I am sure someone soon is going to figure it out ...

That 50 lb braid may not break till you put 80 or more lbs of pressure on it. Braids are notorious for overtesting sometimes more than 2 times the rated breaking strength. I have anchored my 34 ft boat in 800 ft with 130 Power Pro. If you have any concerns about your line, see how much pressure it takes to break it. Id bet you will be surprized.

I know if I am snaged on the bottom it takes a lot to break it ... I have reeled up an old large cast net from 420Ft of water and my rod holder was pulling out from all the stress I was putting on it thinking it was a monster grouper .. well I did fix the rod holders .. bolted down tight now ! .. Plus I dont have that much drag on it use about 20-25lbs ... at the heavyest

I was told from someone in the bud-n-mary's fleet that they will not charter for day time swords, they do it on there own time, or sometimes with very non-fisherman type clients

Default method for daytime swordfishing

They use a 3 hook chicken rig with 3 different baits down @ 1 time. Everything else every one allready knows about.. The thing is at Bud and Marys is he knows exactly where to go..
