Tonight looks a bit to uncomfortable for me, 10-20 SE, I will be out Tuesday night, 5-10 SE.
Tim, Dead bait works great, I have had some great experiences with 2-3 pound Bonita's, sow her mouth shut and send her down, never tried a dead Tinker.

went out Mon night, went 2 for 3, Had the coolest thing happen, Had a tinker about 25 feet under the boat ,saw the rod bounce and started windin, came within about 10 feet of the boat and saw the tinker still on, then all of a sudden the sword followed up within 10 foot of the boat,I held it there watchin the sword do figure 8s wackin the tinker every time by with his bill. I yelled to my buddy to wind up the short squid , Then he finally knocked the tinker off the hook after about his 5th time by , By then my buddy had yanked the sinker off the squid he had just wound up. He whirled around again sucked up the tinker and then grabbed the squid, Davey had the reel out of gear with his thumb on it and proceeded to let run at least 200 yards of line off, figureing he had it swallowed, set the hook and nobody home ! We both looked at each other in disbelief ! We thought he would have it swallowed to his ying yang for sure !
I wasnt completly convinced of the wackin a live bait with their bill until last night. Now seeing it first hand 10 feet in front of my eyes I believe it now. What a clumsy fish they are.
I will have more squid in my spread from now on ! If I can grab a few live baits easy on the way out ,ok, If not Im not worring about it anymore.

We went 3 for 4 last night and had numerous baits stolen or killed. The action was solid from hollywood to fortlauderdale along the 49 to 50.

We boated one fish of 160lbs and let the other guys go, even though the 3rd fish was bigger.

We were fishing 5 lines of which 4 were squid of different size and different color dye.

The 5th line was a tinker and was making me look like I have never fished before. The fish would just knock them clear off the hooks, so once I went through 3 tinkers, I switched to a small squid and got another angler in a fight with a 50lber.

We did have a 30-40lb sword come to the light and just check us out.

The bites were all 2 minutes apart last night, we evenutually stopped setting the jugs out and just started fishing right out of the rod holder.

I'll be out there tonight doing catch and release as we have enough to last us a month.

*Most of our bites came from 200-300 ft range.

We fished last night, 12/30. We went 5 for 5. We had a bite at every depth in the spread. Two of our bites were on live tinkers, the other 3 were on squid. We came in at 10pm after we boated a 64 ½ inch 140lber(LHP Scales). All of our other fish were about the same size, in the low 50inch range. It was a good night.
December has been a hot month for us, we have caught 14 fish in 4 trips. 14 for 23 in Dec.
Go get'em

Vinnie, where were you fishing last night? You are the only guy who found the Tinkers.

My friend caught the tinkers at 4am yesterday morning while catching gogs in 250-300ft. We kept them in the well all day. We had no tinkers around the boat last night either, just a few sardines here and there.
Happy New Year guys.
