Question Swordfish and Mako's

When Swordfishing is there anyway you can change the technique and go specifically for Mako? For me, it's only been dump luck and would like to know if there is a way to bypass everything else in quest of this great fish.

once you catch a swordfish, add some wire leader to ur rigs n send the swordfish back out
