Default 200 pound swordfish on the Catch MY Drift

Another successful swordfish trip. Yes, the Friday Night Open Boat Swordfish trip we run every week on the Catch My Drift has found the elusive swordfish again. This week they were 2 for 3 on swords. One fish was a 50" forklength and the other was a 71" forklength fish with a 42" girth measurement. The formula we use to calculate weight puts the larger one at 196 pounds. It was a slammer of a night. We missed another fish, no telling how big it was. Thanks to everyone who came, I'm glad you guys had a good trip and everyone went home with a ton of swordfish steaks. Your freezers must be overflowing.

I will have to post pictures on a future update. Capt. Adam told me his pictures turned out lousy, but the mate, Josh, got some good ones. To anyone interested in trying this trip out, check out my website or give me a call. We run the trip every Friday night from 6PM-2AM and we've been on a great string of good trips lately.

Until my next report....

also its hard to believe there is a 21" differance between those two fish hangng up in the pcture.

either way nice catch captain, way to put your customers on the fish!!!

i was wondering....you guys split the meat up even, nut who gets the bill? the angler?

We got a 72 incher that weighed 218lbs the next day. The formula may be close for many fish, but way off for a few.

The formula we use is Fish weight=(Length*girth*girth)/700. This is just an approximation and isn't accurate. The formula L*G*G/800 is for the plug weight I believe.

Yes, everyone on the boat get an equal amount of the fish. Its the only fair way to do it. The angler gets to take the bill. He gets first shot at it and if he doesn't want it, then whoever wants it can have it. We'd arrange a fair way to distribute bills if they guy that caught it didn't want it.

BTW, anyone who goes on any of these trips and gets good pictures, I would really like them for my website. You can email them to me. I get the emails from Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters & Florida Sportfishing - Fishing Headquarters, so just check out the website and click contact us and send em to me. I don't want to post my email on a public forum. Thanks in advance...
