Send your paperwork to Maine. You'll get your license faster.

Paperwork's the hard part. I hand delivered mine to the office in New Orleans so that they could look it over and assure me that everything was correct. Also, I had to sign that stupid oath in their presence for some reason. Well a few months went by and I hadn't heard from them. I called several times to get an update, and finally I got a note saying that THEY had to take the fingerprints themselves. The prints taken by the police department in Florida were inadequate. You know, that's the kind of crap they could have told me THE FIRST TIME I drove to New Orleans.

So then I drove 4 hours back to the Big Sleazy, had them print me again, again asked them if everything was correct, received a reply of the affirmative, and drove 4 hours home. 3 months later I had still not received my license. I called them and they said, "Oh, well we saw that you already had a LIMITED OUPV license, so we didn't send you your "regular" OUPV License."

"No, you stupid idiots, this is an upgrade. Send me my damn license."

Finally I got it, 8 months after putting in the paperwork. Hooray for bureaucracy and government.
